The Problem: Climate Change

There is no issue more important to all of us today than climate change. The effects are already being felt all over the world, which include powerful destructive storms, coastal flooding, wildfires, desertification, and destruction of ecosystems. This process is acceleratiing and is likely to be much more destructive in the future as global temperatures continue to rise.

The science is clear. Greenhouse gases, principally carbon dioxide, are causing more and more of the sun's radiation to become trapped on the earth - just like in a glass greenhouse. There is only one course of action: We must stop burning fossil fuels - as fast as we can.

But the situation is not as bleak as it seems, because WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY WE NEED to solve the problem. And, in most cases, that technology is better and, in the long run, cheaper than what we have become accustomed to.

By replacing energy from coal, oil and natural gas with electrical energy, we can dramatically slow climate change and limit the destructive effects it is causing all over the planet.

The Solution: Electrification

Electricity is the best form of energy that has been invented. It is versatile and can be distributed widely over long distances using transmission lines and stored in batteries for future use.

It can light our homes, do heating and cooling, cook our food, power many forms of transportation and energize our cell phones, computers, and global communications systems.

Electricity is indeed so versatile we can do (almost) everything we need to do if we have a sufficient supply of electrical energy. This includes Building Electrification (homes and businesses), Rooftop Solar Energy, Battery Storage, Charging Stations and Electric Cars and Trucks.

Electrify California is a nonprofit corporation committed to providing education and resources to individuals and communities in California to facilitate the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy by the rapid electrification of energy generation and usage.
